Month Seven (September 5th to October 4th)

Wow, I'm late on this.  It has been a fantastically busy month.  The Biscuit crawled once for us and then decided it was much easier to flip on to his back and do the backstroke across the floor.  He can stand up when holding on to something, and he has also learned to dance!

We took our first BIG vacation down to Florida.  First to see Zac and Peili get married:

and the Biscuit also got to meet Uncle Clif for the first time!

and we got to hang out with his godparents, too!

Then we headed to Orlando for some theme park fun!

We also managed to get a few family photos taken with Mike's family.

I'm going to take a minute to talk about Mommy for a minute. One of the reasons it has been so difficult for me to keep up with my MONTHLY posts is that I am tired and I hurt pretty much constantly.  I have something called Post Partum Thyroiditis and that, along with the Biscuit, has been running my life since Biscuit was around a month old.  The first stage is called the thyrotoxic stage, and during this stage your thyroid dumps all your thyroid hormones in to your body at once.  It causes your body to think you are constantly running a marathon.  I was exhausted, even mild exercise made me feel sick, and it was causing me to have heart problems.  It also causes sleeplessness and anxiety. That stage is typically gone so quickly that it is unnoticed by most, but for me it lasted 5 months.  At the 5 month mark my body slipped in to the hypothyroid stage, which just causes fatigue, a drop in milk supply, and depression.  Unfortunately for me I also have the rare symptom of severe thyroid swelling.  That swelling puts pressure on my eustachian tube and cause me to have ear, jaw, and throat pain.  The swelling gets so bad some days you can actually see the lump in my throat.  I wanted to write this so everyone would think twice before judging a person.  You have no idea what they are going through on the inside.  And, please, when you see a new mom, sometime in between the baby snuggles and questions, remember to ask about the mom.  Maybe there is something wrong that she hasn't told anyone because no one has asked how she felt.

Thanks for reading my Mommy woes.  I will leave you with a few more of my favorite photos from the month.
